New benefit of NYACS membership:
Legal Expert on DEC Issues
Legal issues surrounding a petroleum bulk storage enforcement proceeding or petroleum spill remediation can be a daunting challenge for motor fuel retailers.
To help members needing legal guidance, NYACS has engaged an experienced attorney specializing in environmental law for 20 years. Every NYACS member in good standing is entitled to call him for a free, half-hour legal consultation on a pending PBS or spill matter involving the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The consultation is limited to 30 minutes. Thereafter, should you desire additional legal services on a paid basis and choose the law firm, a NYACS member discount on attorney’s fees will apply.
The best solution for PBS and spill enforcement issues is preventing them before they occur. NYACS is fortunate to have a number of member pump-and-tank and environmental consulting firms that are highly qualified to help you with PBS compliance and spill prevention (see your Membership Directory for contact info). But if you encounter an enforcement issue and need a quick legal perspective, it’s good to know you can exercise your NYACS member privilege and talk to an expert.
For the name and phone number of the environmental attorney, NYACS members should call the NYACS office at 518-432-1400 or see the announcement in the May 2008 issue of STOREfronts newsletter.
